Iris Garden

I am fortunate enough to live not too far from the Presby Iris Gardens in Montclair, NJ. During the month of May, the gardens are blooming with hundreds of different kinds of irises. It’s nothing short of beautiful. I’ve been there a few times, but this particular picture was taken in May of 2009. I like this picture in particular because of the way the purple looks against the green.

I think of my father every time I go the Presby Iris Gardens. He had irises in his garden and gave some of his iris bulbs to me, which now grow in my garden. I always meant to bring him to Presby, but for one reason or another, it never was the right timing with a visit while the flowers were in full bloom. I’m sure if we had brought him there, he would have spent hours taking pictures….I think I’m a lot like him in that respect – I could spend hours taking pictures….with subject matter like nature, who could blame me?
